Panda Chronograph

Panda Chronograph

After building a Snoopy Speedmaster chronograph, I made another VK63 watch with a very different style: This one was inspired by the classic panda-dial Rolex Daytona.

The Panda Dial

A panda dial uses a light-coloured main dial with dark, contrasting subdials.

The nickname comes from the black-and-white colour combination, which resembles a panda’s face. On Daytona-style watches, the design typically pairs a white dial with three black registers, creating a clean and very legible chronograph layout.

A Daytona-Inspired Design

The Rolex Daytona is closely associated with chronograph timing and motorsport design. A tachymeter scale around the bezel, three registers on the dial, and chronograph pushers give the watch a purposeful, instrument-like appearance.
